Providence, RI (Sports Network) - Kadeem Batts posted a double-double with 27 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Providence Friars over the Seton Hall Pirates, 76-66, in a Big East Conference battle at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.

LaDontae Henton also put up a double-double for the Friars (17-12, 9-8 Big East), scoring 15 points and pulling down 10 rebounds, while Bryce Cotton added 15 points and Vincent Council chipped in with 13 points and seven assists. Providence has won seven of its last eight decisions, all in conference play.

For the Pirates (14-16, 3-14), Fuquan Edwin led the way with 15 points, Eugene Teague and Aaron Cosby each finished with 13 points, Kyle Smyth added 11 points and Brian Oliver tallied 10 points.

Providence shot 42.1 percent from the field in the first half. Seton Hall connected on 55.6 percent of its field goal tries in the half and kept the game close until about the ten-minute mark when PC went on a 10-0 run to build an 11-point lead, 28-17. The Pirates matched it with an eight-point run of their own, but the Friars had an offensive burst to end the half up 43-36.

In the second half, both teams struggled from the field. The Friars made just 39.3 percent of their field goal tries, while the Pirates managed only 31 percent. Seton Hall got no closer than five in the second half, as Providence secured the home win.

The Friars finished with a 40-34 rebounding edge, doubling up the Pirates on offensive rebounds, 14-7.
