Oxford, MS (Sports Network) - Marshall Henderson recorded a game-high 25
points as the Ole Miss Rebels defeated SEC foe Georgia, 84-74, in overtime at
Tad Smith Coliseum.
Reginald Buckner recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds for
the Rebels (19-6, 8-4, SEC). Murphy Holloway contributed 14 points and five
boards, LaDarius White and Jarvis Summers added 12 points apiece off the bench
as Ole Miss snapped a two-game losing streak.
For the Bulldogs (12-13, 6-6) Kentavious Caldwell-Pope recorded a double-
double with 19 points and 12 boards. Kenny Gaines set a career-high
with 13 points, Donte' Williams added 10 points, six boards, and two blocks as
Georgia lost for the second time in as many games.
In the first half Georgia made 16-of-30 from the floor, including 4-of-9
beyond the arc. Ole Miss was limited to 10-of-28 field goals as the visitors
took a 41-35 advantage at the break.
In the second half Ole Miss knocked down 14-of-15 at the free-throw line. It
held a two-point lead until Georgia made a pair of foul shots with 45 seconds
remaining to force overtime with the contest tied, 70-70.
Ole Miss made 4-of-7 from the floor and 6-of-7 at the foul line in the extra
session. Georgia was held to a mere 1-of-6 from the floor as the Rebels took
the 10-point victory.
In a game that experienced 12 ties and 17 lead changes, the Bulldogs hurt
themselves with 18 turnovers which were traded in for 24 points by the hosts.
