Richmond, KY (Sports Network) - Tarius Johnson recorded a double-double with
15 points and 11 rebounds as the Eastern Kentucky Colonels defeated the
Jacksonville State Gamecocks, 80-67, in Ohio Valley Conference play at Johnson
Arena.
Glenn Cosey recorded a game-high 21 points for the Colonels (21-6, 10-3 OVC).
Corey Walden contributed 19 points, five boards, and five assists, Eric Stutz
was two rebounds shy of a double-double with 11 points and Mike DiNunno added
10 points as EKU extended its win streak to five.
For the Gamecocks (15-10, 7-7), Tarvin Gaines recorded a game-high 21 points,
Brian Williams put up 17 points and seven assists and Nick Cook added 11
points as JSU dropped a third straight decision.
EKU made 53.3 percent from the floor, including 5-of-12 beyond the arc in the
first half. JSU made 51.7 percent from the floor but only 2-of-4 from long-
range, as EKU took a 39-34 advantage at the half.
The Colonels continued their impressive shooting in the second half, making
53.6 percent from the floor, allowing them to capture the double-digit win.
EKU controlled the boards, 32-25, and survived despite turning the ball over
14 times on the night.
