Akron, OH (Sports Network) - Zeke Marshall was one rebound shy of a double-
double with 15 points as the Akron Zips defeated the Bowling Green Falcons,
67-50, in Mid-American Conference play at James A. Rhodes Arena.
Nick Harney and Alex Abreu recorded 13 points and six rebounds apiece for the
Zips (21-4, 12-0 MAC). Brian Walsh added 10 points and six boards as the Zips
extended their win streak to 17 in a row, the longest in the nation.
For the Falcons (10-15, 5-7), Richaun Holmes was two boards shy of a double-
double with a team-high 15 points off the bench. A'uston Calhoun chipped in 11
points as Bowling Green lost for the second time in the last three games.
Despite both teams struggling shooting in the first half, Akron made four
extra field goals to take a 29-21 lead at the break.
Both teams made 12-of-29 from the floor in the second half. Bowling Green
committed 11 personal fouls, allowing Akron to make a perfect 13-of-13 at
the free-throw line, en route to the victory.
The Zips controlled points in the paint, 34-20, and points off turnovers,
16-4.
