STERLING, Va. (WUSA9) -- TSA officials say a Virginia man tried to bring a handgun on board a flight from Dulles International Airport on Thursday morning.
Officers detected the gun, and 19 rounds of ammunition, in his carry-on bag as he went through a security checkpoint. The officers were able to stop him, according to authorities.
The Montpelier, Va. man was cited on a weapons charge and Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority Police confiscated the .380 caliber handgun and ammunition, say TSA officials.
TSA officials say the man was headed to Charlotte, N.C. and was allowed to take his flight, without the gun and ammunition.
