VIENNA, Va. (AP) - Safety investigators are reviewing a near-collision between an oncoming Metro train and two track workers last month.
The February 5 incident on the new Silver Line in Northern Virginia is expected to be discussed at a meeting of Metro's safety and security committee on Thursday.
Jim Benton of the Tri-State Oversight Committee, which oversees Metro's safety, says a passing train nearly struck two workers who were checking tracks between Vienna and Dunn Loring on February 5. He says the workers didn't expect to see the train and the train operator was apparently unaware that the workers would be there.
One of the workers injured his knee as he tried to get out of the train's path.
