WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Justin Farrands trying to get to the finish line at the Boston Marathon when the explosives went off.
The 23-year-old, of Connecticut, was six miles from completing the race when he got a call from a friend who told him officials were not letting people get to the end due to the explosions.
"I started to see a lot more police heading down the route," he said. "At mile 23 or 24 I could see people were starting to head back."
He said his friend mentioned there were talks that a generator might have blown up. People began running towards him with a shocked looked.
"You never think something like this would happen to you after you trained all this time to do a marathon."
