ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Midshipmen were praised by First Lady Michelle Obama for their service during her visit to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis.
First Lady Michelle Obama told about 4,000 midshipmen on Wednesday that she and President Barack Obama were working hard for them, just as they do for the country.
The first lady is scheduled to join Gov. Martin O'Malley as he signs into law the Veterans Full Employment Act of 2013, a bill designed to expedite the licensing procedure for veterans and military spouses who hold professional licenses in other states.
In February, the nation's governors were urged by the first lady to pass legislation that streamlines the process for service members and veterans to earn civilian credentials and licenses.
White House officials say that in two months, 13 states have already complied.
