LINTHICUM, Md. (WUSA9) -- A Severn, Md. woman is charged with attempted second degree murder after stabbing a man who tried to intervene in a fight, say police.
According to police, at approximately 10:20 p.m. Monday, officers responded to the 200 block of Minta Court in Linthicum for a report of a stabbing. They then spoke to a 35-year-old man who said that he had been stabbed inside the residence, say police.
Police say their investigation revealed there was an argument between Amanda Frances Smallwood and a 26-year-old woman at the home, which then reportedly escalated into a physical assault on the 26-year-old woman. Her boyfriend tried to intervene, say police, and Smallwood stabbed him in the upper torso.
The man was taken to Shock Trauma for treatment of his serious injuries,. according to police.
Police say Smallwood was charged with Attempted Second Degree Murder, First Degree Assault, two counts of Second Degree Assault and Reckless Endangerment.
