WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -  A cold front will clear the Metro Area by dawn ushering in much cooler and drier air. The heavy T-storms will taper off into showers overnight.

Thursday evening severe storms around Winchester produced a funnel cloud shortly after 5:00 PM. We received numerous reports of hail from Strasburg, VA to Berkeley Springs, WV.

Storms produced heavy rain in upper Montgomery County and in Howard county. Two to four inches of rain fell and there were swift boat rescues in the Damascus area.

On Friday, we will see some late clearing with spotty showers that will taper off Friday afternoon. Friday will be windy and almost chilly with highs remaining nearly stationary in the mid sixties. Lows Friday and Saturday night will fall into the low forties in the suburbs. The Memorial Day weekend looks rather brisk. Highs will struggle to reach seventy Saturday with lows in the forties in the suburbs Friday and Saturday night.
