ROCKVILLE, Md. (WUSA9) -- Montgomery County Police Spokesperson Paul Starks says a man is in custody after a possible domestic situation and barricade in Rockville on Wednesday morning.
A SWAT team was called to the scene of a possible domestic situation at a house in the 600 block of Azalea Drive at apprxoimately 8 a.m.
Starks says that a woman called police to claim domestic abuse and threats. The man was believed to be armed and was inside the house alone, according Starks.
Police were using bullhorns to try to get a response from the man biut at one point officers approached the home on foot. Authorities say negotiators from the department's Emergency Response Team communicated with the man through the front door.
At approximately 9:25 a.m. the man surrendered voluntarily and was taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation, according to authorities.
No shots were fired and there were no injuries, say officials.
Police continue to investigate the incident.
