WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA9) -- The Metropolitan Police Department is seeking assistance to find a person of interest in connection with a robbery while armed, police said.

The person of interest is described as a black male, approximately 5'8" to 5'10" in height, with a heavy build. He was last seen wearing a black mask, gray hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans, and gray New Balance shoes, according to a press release. 

The man exited a vehicle and shot a victim after he announced the robbery. He fled the scene in a black  2012 Volkswagen Jetta with unknown tags. The incident occurred in the 3700 block of 4th Street, SE, on Sunday, March 17, 2013, at approximately 6:35 pm, police said.
