WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- It's the holiday most men have come to fear, but this year there is no need to be afraid of Valentine's Day.

Jessica Doyle has the results of a new poll which highlights some of this year's top Valentine's Day gifts. Men you will want to pay attention. Your significant other may actually out-do you when it comes to the gift-giving.

Americans will spend an estimated $18.6 billion on Valentine's candy, flowers, jewelry and gifts this year, which is about $131 a person. That's an increase of $5 from last year, according to the National Retail Foundation. As expected, men will spend twice as much as women.
