UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WUSA) -- A 57-year-old man has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and two first-degree rapes that happened in 1990.
According to Prince George's County State's Attorney Angela Alsobrooks, Thomas Lee Posey pleaded guilty to raping and murdering 22-year-old Margaret Perkins of Beltsville, Md. while she was on jogging through a Berwyn Heights park in June 1990. Firefighters who were playing softball found her body the day after she disappeared. Evidence showed she had been strangled.
In May and September 1990, authorities say Posey robbed and raped two different 20-year-old women after accosting them with a broken bottle.
Posey was found guilty in 1992 of accosting a woman at an ATM machine with a sawed-off shotgun, robbing her, raping her and then locking her in the trunk of her car. His DNA would later be linked to the other crimes.
After his plea for the murder and rape charged, Posey will spend the rest of his life in prison.
