POTOMAC, Va. (WUSA) -- Loudoun County Sheriff's deputies are investigating an early-morning crash that killed a pedestrian.
Loudoun County Sheriff's Department officials confirm the male pedestrian was hit by a Dodge van shortly before 4:00 Monday morning on Leesburg Pike (Route 7) at Palisades Parkway. The driver of the van, a 39-year-old woman, stayed at the scene.
Arnold E. Berton of Wisconsin was transported with life-threatening injuries and later died, says a spokesperson with the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.
For most of the morning only one westbound lane of Leesburg Pike remained open in the area where the crash occurred. As of 8:10 a.m. all lanes of Leesburg Pike reopened.
