GREENBELT, Md. (WUSA) -- Firefighters rescued a driver after falling into a drainage culvert approximately 25-feet deep, Prince George's County Fire Dept. said.
According to officials, the single-car crash took place on the inner-loop of the Capital Beltway just before Kenilworth Ave. in Greenbelt on Saturday just before 4 a.m.
For unknown reasons, the car left the roadway, went down a steep embankment and overturned into the drainage culvert, officials said.
"Firefighters on-board the heavy-duty rescue squad from Berwyn Heights performed the challenging high-angle rescue and extrication," Mark Brady PGFD PIO said.
The driver was transported to a Trauma Center with non-life threatening injures.
