SILVER SPRING, Md. (WUSA) -- Ten years ago, our region came under attack by a pair of snipers. When the terror ended, 10 people were dead and three more were hurt. In fact on this day, four people were gunned down on what started as a normal morning.
The first deadly shooting took place on the night of October 2, 2002. A man was shot in the parking lot of a Shoppers Food Warehouse in Wheaton. At first it was investigated as a single random shooting. Until the next morning when four people were shot to death.
Officers eventually arrested John Allen Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo. Both were found guilty.
Malvo was sentenced to life in prison. Muhammad was sentenced to death and executed in 2009.
Most of the physical signs of those are gone, but a lot of memories remain.
Kristin Fisher reported live in Silver Spring, Maryland on Wednesday morning with a look back. See her report above.
We want to know what you remember about those attacks ten years ago. Do you think justice was served with the execution of John Allan Muhammad and the life prison sentence given to Lee Boyd Malvo?
