FREDERICK, Md. (AP) - A team of Japanese student drummers headline a cherry-blossom event in Frederick's Baker Park.
The Yamakiya Taiko (ya-mah-kee-yah ty-koh) Club from Fukushima (foo-koo-she-mah), Japan, is scheduled to perform Sunday afternoon.
The 13 students range in age from 12 to 20. They are from the area affected by high radiation levels from the failed Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant.
The team is also scheduled to perform at the Kennedy Center in Washington Monday.
The Frederick event includes a ceremonial tree planting to mark the 100th anniversary of Japan's gift of cherry blossom trees to the nation's capital.
