WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is recalling nearly 800,000 Cosco, Maxi Cosi and Safety First brand child restraint seats.
A defect in the harness strap causes it to loosen, increasing the risk of a child being injured in a crash.
The recall covers 8 different models of booster, convertible and infant seats.

The models affected were made from May 1 2008 through April 30, 2009.
Consumers should contact Doral Juvenile Group for a free repair kit.
The company says until then, you can continue to use the seat as directed by the instruction manual.
