Debra Alfarone is an award-winning, Emmy-nominated TV journalist, whose live reports can be seen weeknights on WUSA9's 11pm news. Debra covers everything from breaking news to crime to inspiring stories of people making a difference.

Before coming to WUSA9, Debra worked in New York City at PIX 11 News, the CW affiliate, where she was the first reporter on the scene of the discovery of the 10 Gilgo Beach bodies thought to be the work of a Long Island serial killer. She also won awards for her coverage of the 2008 financial meltdown while working in Hartford, CT at the NBC affiliate, WVIT-TV.

A couple of things about Debra you may not know: 1) She worked on Wall Street right out of college at firms like Morgan Stanley and American Express in management roles, and still holds her business card from her days at the World Trade Center as one of her prized possessions. 2) It was the tragedy of 9/11 that pushed her to quit and pursue her dream of telling stories that need to be told.

Debra's known for her conversational and creative storytelling style, and her total immersion in social media. If you have a problem or an issue in your neighborhood, tweet her at @DebraAlfarone.
