Kristin Fisher is an Emmy-Award winning, one-man-band reporter. She films, edits, writes and reports live for the weekday evening newscasts. Kristin has covered a wide-range of stories since joining WUSA9 in 2009: the Inauguration of Barack Obama, the last Space Shuttle launch, and Hurricane Irene. In 2010, she won an Emmy for her segments on heroes in the greater Washington community.
Before coming to Washington, Kristin worked at KATV in Little Rock, Arkansas while freelancing for Current TV. She traveled across the country covering the 2008 presidential campaigns of both Hillary Clinton and Mike Huckabee. Kristin also covered the 2007 general session of the Arkansas State Legislature. She began her career as a reporter and weekend anchor at KJCT in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Kristin grew up in Houston, Texas as the daughter of two NASA astronauts. While she clearly failed to inherit the astronaut gene, she shares in their desire to explore and explain our world. Kristin has lived in both London and Athens. She's also lived outside on an Alaskan glacier, and has summited Mount Rainer and Mount Olympus. She is a graduate of Boston University's College of Communication.
