WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- This is Maryland's tax free week for school supplies, clothes and shoes. But before you head out to shop, you will want to search a three page list to guide your shopping steps.
Our Consumer team at Nine News Now scoured the list - and found some interesting items that are tax free and taxable.
SHOP WITH THE LIST
Here are a few things that make that qualify and might come as a surprise.
*Swimsuits, trunks and coverups
*Cloth and regular diapers
*Tuxedos - rent or buy
*Dry cleaning services
While you can skip the tax on certain clothing (up to $100) and services, you will pay for alterations on those wares. Eyeing a new briefcase? That is taxable too. As are umbrellas and sunglasses and any other accessories.
The sales tax holiday in Maryland runs from August 14th through the 20th. You'll get a six percent break on clothing and shoes priced up to $100 and school supplies up to $20.
