Automakers Drive To Build Car Of The Future

WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- Honda showed off it's new technology that melds hard steel with light aluminum to make their vehicles lighter and more fuel efficient.

The material can be used on car parts like doors and trunks. 

The Japanese manufacturer plans to use the lighter metal on a new model set to go on sale in the U.S. next month.

Suzuki Motor rolled out a lighter mini car last year.

And, BMW plans to release a light weight electric car made with carbon vehicle.
